All the way from Australia comes this lean and very rare meat from kangaroos. This product is a supplementary food, not a complete meal. It can be advantageously combined with organ meat and bones to create a complete diet following the BARF method, making it perfect for those who want to prepare homemade meals for their dog. It is also excellent for dogs undergoing elimination diets for allergy testing, or for those who simply wish to offer it occasionally for some variety in their diet. It’s definitely worth trying if you have a dog “that can’t tolerate anything.”

Kangaroo meat naturally has a low fat and calorie content, yet it is rich in high-quality protein, mainly due to the active lifestyle of kangaroos. This makes it particularly beneficial for dogs and cats with sensitive stomachs or digestive issues, as fatty meats can often aggravate such problems. In addition, it has a low content of saturated fat, which helps maintain low cholesterol levels in dogs. The meat is also rich in micronutrients such as iron and zinc, contains many B vitamins, and is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids.

Ingredients

100% kangaroo meat (mixed muscle groups). May contain small pieces of cartilage/bone from muscle attachments.

Handling and durability

How to thaw and store the food safely:

  • Place the package in an airtight container and let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight.
  • In a hurry? You can thaw it in a water bath with warm (not boiling) water.

The food seems to taste best when slightly warm, but many dogs also enjoy it partially frozen – especially on hot summer days.

Shelf life: Once thawed, the food will keep in the refrigerator for 3–4 days. The best-before date applies to unopened and deep-frozen packages and is set to 2 years from the production date.

    IMPORTANT to remember:
    - Good hand hygiene! Treat dog food as you would raw meat for human consumption. Always wash utensils, bowls, and slow feeders after contact with raw meat.
    - As with all game meat from hunting, in rare cases, despite strict controls and the use of metal detectors, fragments of bullets may be present in the product. It is therefore always recommended to inspect the product carefully before giving it to your dog.

Feeding instructions

As this is a supplementary food and not a complete meal, it should not be fed on its own. It is suitable for those who wish to mix their own food or simply add extra variety from time to time.

Raw meat can safely be mixed with, for example, dry food. To avoid an unbalanced diet, no more than 20% of the daily intake should be added. If the proportion of fresh food exceeds 20% of the total diet in the long term, the fresh portion must also be nutritionally balanced.

If you are using it in a homemade diet, the amount given per portion can correspond to the amount of their complete food. This means approximately 2% of body weight per day for adult dogs, and 4–6% of body weight per day for puppies, young dogs, and pregnant bitches.

Do not hesitate to contact your veterinarian if you are unsure or would like guidance.

Delivery options

Frozen raw food and frozen chews can either be picked up at our location in Brøset, Trondheim, or shipped to a pickup point or via home delivery. If you would like it shipped by mail, it is important that you read the entire section about shipping frozen goods under "Shipping of frozen goods" which you can find HERE.

Minimum order: 12 kg frozen goods (e.g. 24 x 500 g or 4 x 3 kg food)
Maximum per shipment: 1 styrofoam box = approx. 15 kg frozen food
Example of a full styrofoam box:

  1. 28 x 500 g
  2. 5 x 3 kg + 8 x 500 g

We do not ship the 800 g medallions, as they will not stay frozen throughout the delivery.

If you would like to order both frozen food and frozen chews, we can check if there is enough space in the styrofoam box. If adjustments are necessary, we will contact you before shipping. If you order both frozen and dry goods (e.g. treats), we can ship everything together if there is room, otherwise it will be shipped separately. You will only be charged one shipping cost.

About the producer

Sund Hundmat is a wholly owned Swedish company. Veterinarian Wiktor Sandecki observed that our pets were suffering from the same health issues as humans, often related to lifestyle and eating habits. Pet owners can often find the range of pet food overwhelming, and the recommendations given can sometimes be misleading. Choosing food for your pet is actually quite simple – feed your animal a species-appropriate diet that is as minimally processed as possible.

Since its founding in 2011, their vision has been to provide pets with logical and healthy food made exclusively from natural ingredients. They wanted to be an alternative on the market without compromising on ethics or environmental considerations. The result is Sund Hundmat — modern complete food, chews, and treats from animals that have had free access to daily outdoor activity and grazing all year round. They clearly distance themselves from intensive breeding, and their production is powered by 100% renewable energy. It’s all about sustainable production, the highest quality, and plain common sense.
