This tincture is made from the bark of American slippery elm. It can help to soothe and reduce swelling in all mucous membranes, including the nose and throat. It contains mucilages that form a protective layer on all mucous membranes. If your pet suffers from irritated mucous membranes in the intestines or urinary tract, this tincture can be soothing and may also help with coughing and sore throats.
Slippery elm is prebiotic, meaning it feeds the good bacteria in the gut, thereby supporting good gut function. The mucus it forms soothes and lubricates the mucous membranes in the gut, which can help with diarrhea, colitis, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, and gastroenteritis. The high fiber content can help with an upset/unstable stomach.
Whether you choose powder or tincture depends on what is easiest for you and what your pet prefers. You do not need to mix the tincture with water; it can be used immediately if necessary. Just shake the bottle quickly and administer directly into your pet's mouth.

- concurrently with medications. The mucilage formed reduces the absorption of medications if given at the same time. Therefore, give it at least 2 hours before or after medications.
- to pregnant or lactating animals. The use of Slippery elm in pregnant or lactating animals is not sufficiently documented, so it is not recommended to give it.
- long-term without veterinary follow-up: Although slippery elm is safe, you should always consult a veterinarian if your pet has persistent problems. Long-term use can mask underlying health issues.

In case of loss of appetite lasting more than 3 days, prolonged vomiting (with or without fever), lethargy, severe abdominal pain (tenderness to touch), or persistent nausea (chewing sounds, drooling, burping), you must contact a veterinarian.

Half a pipette corresponds to approximately 1 ml.
Shake well before use; the dosage can be administered directly into the mouth (give it approximately 30 minutes before a meal).
Ingestion of slippery elm can interfere with or prevent the absorption of medications, and therefore it should be given at least 1 hour, preferably 2 hours, before medication. It may also be beneficial to administer it before bedtime, as it can work in the gastrointestinal system throughout the night.
