Logan's seaweed powder is made from organic pigweed ( Latin: Ascophyllum Nodosum ). This is chosen for its natural and documented ( no. 1 , no. 2 , no. 3 ) effect in reducing plaque, tartar and bad breath, as it has natural antibacterial properties.

Ascophyllum Nodosum is a nutritious brown seaweed packed with essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals. The seaweed contains bioactive compounds such as fucoidan and laminarin, which have been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Mannitol is also an antioxidant. This can help support your dog’s immune system, improve gut health and even reduce the risk of certain types of cancer. Seaweed can also help your dog have a thicker and shinier coat because it is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, including alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which is quite similar to DHA and EPA (found in fish oil).

Remember that using seaweed powder does not replace brushing your teeth, but is a great addition!

NOTE: If your dog has thyroid problems, you should not give seaweed powder without first consulting your veterinarian. This is because seaweed naturally contains a lot of iodine. Iodine is an essential micronutrient, but too much can have a negative effect.
